Cala Jondal

Cala Jondal is a truly enchanting beach, surrounded by pine trees and jagged cliffs, very popular with boat owners and elegant and fashionable people. It is one of the most exclusive beaches in Ibiza, with a fabulous selection of beach restaurants that are particularly appreciated by the rich and famous as well as the smaller chiringuitos, preferred by the locals.

Dominated by only a few houses with exquisite architectural design, built high on the surrounding green hills, the white pebble beach is dotted here and there by the shade of pine trees before gradually sloping down to the sparkling crystal clear waters. Many bathing establishments create sandy areas and provide safe access to the water with small bridges and ramps. After a few meters, the bottom is sandy, so bathing here is just wonderful.

Many beach clubs offer the "zodiac" service (a dinghy reaches the fabulous boats and yachts anchored off the coast to take the owners to the restaurants). Most will also bring you drinks directly on your boat – that's living great!

One of the two natural port of Ibiza. It is an area little frequented by tourists, it offers a discreet and quiet environment to relax. It also overlooks important beach clubs and restaurants that consequently make it a luxurious area. Characterized by breathtaking coves, warm colors and crystal clear water.

One of the things we recommend to do in Ibiza, at least once in a lifetime, is to visit the beautiful islet of Es Vedrá, which is located in front of Cala d'Hort. For both the inhabitants of Ibiza and visitors, this is one of the most emblematic and magical places in Ibiza. This island, which is part of the Natural Park of Es Vedrá, Es Vedranell and the islets of Ponente, preserves wonderful places to get lost and a concentration of unique vegetation and fauna.

This islet about 385 meters high, is located a few kilometers from Ibiza and can be admired from almost every point of the Municipality of San José.

In Es Vedrá there are no hotel facilities or even places of residence, so most visitors who arrive on this islet just want to stop for a few hours or simply anchor their boat to spend the day there. This island, in addition to the characteristics of the soil, its virgin corners, and the lush vegetation, is distinguished by the number of plant and animal species known so far. Here you can find a wide variety of birds, lizards and multiple species of invertebrates; it is also one of the main breeding grounds for seabirds and birds of prey in the Balearic archipelago.

Cala d'Hort is a small beach much appreciated, with a fantastic view of the mysterious island of Es Vedrà which rises spectacularly from the sea just a few hundred meters from the shore. The beach is sandy on one side, pebbly on the other, and in summer it is very busy. There are many who flock to the quiet environment of Cala d'Hort: young and old of the place, families of tourists and couples.

Surrounded by cliffs, it is located at the end of a very steep road. During peak hours the road becomes, in spite of itself, one-way due to the number of parked vehicles: better to go early if you want to avoid a long uphill climb to reach your car after a hard sunny day!

It is a lovely beach for bodysurfing on windy days, when the waves are a little higher and crash on the beach.

Tip: Visit this beach in the summer to watch the sunset.

For many, Cala Comte needs no introduction. Those who have not yet had the good fortune to enjoy its crystal clear waters will find that this beach is simply special! Cala Comte has fabulous views of the small islands scattered near the coast of Ibiza, enchanting turquoise waters and several areas to explore, which makes it undoubtedly one of the best beaches on the island.

There are two stretches of sand, one surrounded by a rocky coastline, the other by sand dunes. The shallow water is safe for children and is as clear as a swimming pool. In high season the beach is very busy, so going by boat allows you to enjoy the experience to the fullest. The sandy area is very small, but the waters invite you to spend most of your time there. The numerous protruding rocks that emerge from the waters make Cala Comte an interesting place for snorkeling.

Cala Comte is also one of the best coves from which to enjoy the sunset: a small crowd forms on the mainland as boats drop anchor offshore to witness this relaxing spectacle.

Located near San Antonio, the famous Cala Bassa beach attracts tourists every day and locals on weekends: it really has something to offer everyone. It can be reached by car, boat and bus, with a series of useful services and wooden walkways that allow access to disabled people and wheelchairs, making it easily practicable by people of all ages.

The beach of Cala Bassa is surrounded by a wooded area full of ancient and gnarled sabina juniper trees, boasts crystal clear and turquoise waters and soft golden sand. It's a safe beach spot for kids, but not exactly a "sleepy" beach, as there is a range of water sports for all adrenaline junkies, including jet skiing.

The beautiful bay of Cala Xarraca with its crystal clear waters is perfect for snorkelers and is a favorite of photographers. With only 90 meters long and 15 meters wide, this is one of the most isolated bays in Ibiza and boasts one of the most spectacular views. It is surrounded by lush green pine forests dotted with white houses, rugged red cliffs and rocky paths making it ideal for adventurous walks and explorations.

Cala Xarraca is divided into three areas; the middle one is the busiest and the most popular, the two smaller areas on the sides are more secluded and tend to attract nudists.

Tip: A unique feature of Cala Xarraca is its natural mud bath, which is located on the left side of the beach. It is said to have healing properties for the body and is known to soothe fatigued skin.

One of the most fascinating natural places in Ibiza, the tourist area of Portinatx is a popular stop during the Excursion of the Tour around the Island. The bay offers extraordinary panoramic views, crystal clear waters ideal for snorkeling, a high rocky coastline and a seabed of fine white sand. There are three beautiful fine sandy beaches in the area, all safe for children and with a wide range of activities. S'Arenal Gros, the largest, is located on the bay in front of the main bus stop. The smallest, S'Arenal Petit, is more secluded and you will find it behind the ledge of the rock, to the left of the main cove. The third is Playa Porto, surrounded by small hills full of pine trees.

It is a bay at the end of the main road where you will also see the lighthouse. Through all these coves there are fantastic walking routes to take some spectacular photos, so it's worth taking the time to explore.

FORMENTERA

Ses Illetes

When you arrive at Playa Illetes, you'll feel like you've temporarily left the Mediterranean to venture into a Caribbean idyll. No wonder this beach was elected the best in Europe and ranked sixth among the top ten best beaches in the world.

All along the west side of a narrow and kilometer-long peninsula, you will find fine white sand, wonderful blue skies and the most crystal clear waters you have ever seen, which combine to create a corner of true paradise in Formentera. Illetes means "islets" and you will see a whole series of them along this stretch of sand that you can reach by swimming and even on foot, walking in the water. The farther you go, the fewer people you'll meet, especially when you arrive at the nudist area.

At the end of this small peninsula, you can see the nearby islet of Espalmador. Although it will seem very close and easy to reach, do not try to swim or walk in the water towards it, even if others do. The water has very strong currents here and is very dangerous. Warn anyone who seems to attempt this crossing.

This small and picturesque cove is a beautiful beach where you can stay in peace. From here you can enjoy a fantastic view of Ibiza; its location to the west also makes it ideal for admiring one of the magical sunsets of Formentera. In addition to a couple of beach restaurants offering great food, the beach is dominated by the Hotel Cala Saona, also blessed by the wonderful view from this beach. Part of the beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas but, if you prefer, you can simply lie on the soft white sand and sunbathe for free.

The clear waters are beautiful for swimming and perfect for snorkeling, especially around the rocks that rise from the water and that are dotted with some fishermen's huts. The beach is lined with red rocks, and there are small rocky coves around the bay where you'll find plenty of places to swim in total privacy.

If you stay for a few days in Formentera, you must definitely add this place to your list, if only for its absolute beauty.

In the only tourist resort on the island, you will find a lovely and wide sandy beach, surrounded by sand dunes with some small rocky islands offshore and beautiful views. Although located in a lively tourist resort, it retains its old-world charm thanks to the fishermen's huts at both ends. Suitable for the whole family, it can also accommodate people with disabilities, being equipped with a ramp to enter the water.

A lovely promenade overlooking the beach is full of inviting places to eat. Other restaurants are scattered along the back streets behind it. Shops and bars are nearby, as well as a small hippy market on the main street of Es Pujols, which leads directly to the beach.

Caló des Mort is a small game as small as it is beautiful. Its only 70 meters of beach are reason enough to make this beach one of the essential elements if we want to enjoy one of the most beautiful places in Formentera. Unfortunately, there are many people who are attracted by the beauty of the place, so we recommend that you get up early and arrive early to find this deserted beach.

Looking at the photograph, surely Es Caló des Mort is everything you thought when you imagined a lonely beach in Formentera. Located on the coast of Migjorn, which covers the entire south of the island of Formentera and which is located between the tips of Anguila and sa Fragata, where we can find other small coves such as Punta d'es Vell Marí, is Corb Marí, is Mal Pas, bunches of s'Argelar, are Valencians and Es Ram.
